It’s that time of year again, where the art of video games is celebrated and the people who make them are honored.

The 2019 Game Awards is upon us, and the best and brightest in video games will descend upon the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. There’s a list of nominees from which public and professionals alike vote for the best games of the year across multiple categories.

It’s also a time to gear up for the next year. And 2020 will not only begin a new decade but also a new generation of gaming as PlayStation and Xbox prepare to reveal their next flagship consoles.

The 2019 Game Awards begin Thursday, December 12 at 8:30 p.M EST.


Like in past years, this edition of The Game Awards will be streamed for free on multiple services and social channels.

The official Game Awards YouTube, Facebook and Twitter accounts will all stream the awards in its entirety. YouTube is available on all mobile devices as well as every gaming console, including the Nintendo Switch.

Twitch is also a great way to watch and interact with others while the festivities unfold. Many channels will actually co-stream the awards show so fans can watch their favorite content creators dish out live reactionson the show as it’s happening.

Each year some of the biggest developers and publishers show up to get fans excited for the coming year. Whether it was the announcement of a new Mortal Kombat or the latest fighter in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, there’s always been some reveal to get excited about during the Game Awards.

What’s confirmed for this year’s show is more gameplay from Ghost of Tsushima. PlayStation recently held its last State of Play stream of 2019 and gave a tease for its highly anticipated console exclusive. The company then revealed that more will be present on Thursday. Other possible reveals include new 14 Days of Fortnite holiday festivities.
