Our team combines elegance with energy and a flamboyant
display of exotic costumes. From Samba Extravaganza
to Capoeira and Salsa, this group, originally set
up in the 1990s by dancers, choreographers and producers
Fatima (Tima) Borges from Sao Jose dos Campos, Sao
Paulo, Brazil and Tony Ferre(A.M.
Cruz Braz) from Bairrada, Coimbra, Portugal, echo
the ambience of Rio during Carnival time. A team
of fourteen dancers and ten musicians complement
one another with rhythms ranging from Sambas to
Salsa and Bossa Nova to Capoeira, opening doors
for the appreciation of Brazilian culture and music
throughout the UK and abroad.
Touring five continents to the applause of audiences
from Singapore to Slovenia and from Kenya to Karachi,
the team now encompasses new talents including choreographer
Vania Baptista dos Reis from Jacarai, Sao Paulo
Brazil, (who formerly danced with Grupo Raca Sao
Paulo) and singers Graziela Rodriguez of Galicia
Spain (who also sings with the Milan Four Soprano
Band) and Beatriz Mohr from Santa Catarina, Brazil,
singing for the last ten years all rhythms from
Brazil (Bossa Nova, MPB, Axe, Forro). Together they
explore new fusions of Flamenco, Axe, Jazz and Ballet.
Stay tuned for the group’s new musical scores
encompassing styles from the moody blues of saxophonist
Marcello de Sousa (Curumim), Universidade Antonio
Carlos Jobim, of Sao Paulo, Brazil, to the hectic
pace of Brazilian Lambada, Axe and Bossa Nova dance
forms.
