This
is Theatre that exists to explore choices
and the consequences they can bring and to
practice real life within a multi-cultural
society.
Stone
Crabs was the group's first production which
draw on the naturalistic and non-naturalistic
ideas to create the techniques of TEATRO
NOVO. The performance was based on extensive
interviews with victims of domestic violence
and on the personal experiences of the group.
The
Theatre of STONE CRABS seeks to have a muscular
purity of a honed narrative yet with the raw
poetic immediacy of lived risk. TO NOURISH,
TO INSPIRE, TO CHALLENGE AND TO INFORM.
"freedom
is acquired by conquest, not by gift. It must
be persued constantly and responsibly. Freedom
is the indispensable condition for human completion"
- Paulo Freire

Strindberg's
MISS JULIE
SOME
might say art and theatre is not worth unless
it is controversial, which is just as well
because the STONE CRABS' production of Miss
Julie by August Strindberg offers a dark and
disturbing examination of erotic tension and
subversion. (...)Be warned, it is strong
stuff!
