Rio
born Franco Ze Carioca moved to Manchester during the
early eighties where he continued his great passion
for music . Having previously played the guitar in numerous
bands in Brazil. Franco got together with some local
musicians to form ' The Jazz Defektors ' .
The band managed to create a sitr on the jazz dance
scene in London regularly playing at hip club ' The
Wag ' alongside a very young dj Gilles Peterson and
Baz Fe Jazz .This hype and major support from ' Paul
Weller ' , culminated in a record deal with major Sony
/ Cbs in Japan . |

Paul
also went on to co - produce the first album and the band
continued touring heavily at established events like Glastonbury,
The Royal Albert Hall alongside legendary saxophonist ' Grover
Washington Jnr ' and also supporting Paul Weller and ' Ronny
Wood ' from The Stones .
When
this exciting journey ended Franco started a new band
called ' The Brazil Project ' , achieving success with
' Samba Rio ' on Eddie Pillar's Acid Jazz label. At
this point Franco then learnt the basics of sound engineering
studying various courses and started making his own
tracks . |

After
releasing a house music ep on New York's Kult Records he joined
the Rainy City Music label as a producer in nineteen ninety
six for the ' Galera ' Brazilian music project.
He continues this role today specialising in sounds from his
native Brazil . The success of his midweekly residency ' Balanço
' has led to him working at many special Brazilian parties
all over the country.
