Tropicalia Remixed
+ special guests Orquestra Imperial, Gruff Rhys, The Bees, Sean O'Hagan

Barbican Hall

Part of Tropicalia

The seminal 1968 album Tropicália ou Panis et Circensis launched the careers of many of the stars that we now associate with the Tropicália movement.

This special event features the whole album performed live by a group of superb young Brazilian musicians, hailing from groups such as Nacao Zumbi, Orquestra Imperial and Moreno - Domenico - Kassin+2 with new arrangements by reclusive genuis arranger/composer Rogerio Duprat and musical direction from Sean O'Hagan (Stereolab). Plus special guests from the UK including Gruff Rhys (Super Furry Animals), and The Bees.

The evening also features a set from Rio's hip neo-samba outfit Orquestra Imperial in their first British appearance.

Produced by the Barbican

Freestage
Max Sette, Rubinho Jacobina, Wilson das Neves
The afternoon’s Freestage performances come from 3 bands made up from members of the eclectic Orquestra Imperial. Legendary singer/drummer Wilson das Neves, and the rare talents of Max Sette and Rubinho Jacobina
