'The poetics of the body'

A physical theatre workshop on devising techniques with Gael Le cornec, director of the performance 'Stories of the Forgotten Land', this sunday 11am at The Place.
Recommended level: all levels welcome but more suitable for performers who are not theatre practitioners or actors who would like to go back to the stage.

The live art initiative and physical theatre company “Footprint project” presents the performance “Stories of the forgotten land”, after the runners up poem of the Lusophone Poetry platform ‘Poetry in Movement’. With the aim to make a bridge between poetry and performing arts, the performance reflects a critical though witty approach on the human condition in the 21st century.

Under direction of Gael Le Cornec, with guest collaborators Brazilian musician Menino Josué and British film-makers Vanessa Halipi and Rebecca Empson, “Stories of the forgotten land” challenges the boundaries between theatre, dance and music by creating a cross-cutting and experimental performance.

In the cast, outstanding international artists which includes dancers Lydia Kern, Madeleine Morgan and Meline Danielewicz (England), actors Rajesh Bhardway (Australia) and Giorgios Bakalos (Greece), actresses Christina Fornacian and Najlla Kay (Brazil). Don’t miss this opportunity to watch a bold, expressive and poetic attitude to art-making!

Gaël Le Cornec is a writer and performer who has worked with directors such as Nitza Tenenblat, Steven Dykes, Ramiro Silveira and Athina Vahla. After following post-graduate studies in Cultural and Critical Studies at Birkbeck College and Performing Arts at Goldsmiths College, Gael has engaged herself into both sides of the stage, as a performer as well as a writer and director. She has contributed articles with magazines such as Caros Amigos, A Arte da Palavra, Brazilian Contemporary Arts and JungleDrums. As a director she set up the play ‘The appeasement’ by Holger Teschke, the physical theatre performances ‘Roots’ and ‘Na Serra do Serrador’ and the dance-theatre performance ‘Mar-abaixo’.
