Maurício Virgens, baritone, was born in Salvador
da Bahia, Brazil , and began his singing studies in
his country with soprano Turid Karlsen (Oslo/Berlin)
and baritone Martin Krasnenko (Cologne).

He
moved to Germany in the year 2000 to finish his musical education.
Since 2001, he has been living in Cologne and working with
the conductor Paul MacAlindin (Scotland), focusing on recitals
of opera, Lieder and 21st Century repertoire including commissions
by Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, Patrick Nunn, Jane Gardner and
Gordon MacPherson.
Since
season 2004/5 he has been regularly singing Papageno
(Die kleine Zauberflöte),
D. Alfonso (Cosi fan Tutte ) and Pluto (Orpheus in der
Unterwelt) with the Jünge Kammeroper Cologne.
Baritone
Mauricio Virgens continues to be recognized around the
country for his vocal artistry and accomplished stagecraft.
He
is regularly praised for both the quality of his singing
and of his acting.
