TWO THOUSAND YEARS AGO

18 & 19 February 2006 (English)
19 March
2006 (Portuguese)

The second and third performances of the play Two Thousand Years Ago will take place at the Oxford House in Bethnal Green at 7:30pm on the 18th and 19th of February 2006.

The show returns after having been well received by an audience of nearly 250 people who attended its premiere, which took place on the 26th November 2005 at the Waltham Forest Theatre, London.

The play was adapted from a book given through automatic writing to the medium Francisco Candido Xavier by the Spirit Emmanuel who was Xavier’s Spiritual guide for many years and together they wrote over 80 books bringing messages of love and forgiveness.

The book tells the story of Emmanuel in his incarnation as a Roman Senator and in nearly 500 pages Emmanuel tells us a heart-rending story in which betrayal, vengeance, forgiveness and love brings spiritual enlightenment to all those who read the book and now to those who will watch the play.

The story takes place between the years 31 and 79 of the Christian era during the Roman conquest of Palestine to where the Senator moved with his family in search of a cure to his sick daughter.

They went to live in Capernaum where he meets Jesus and after this meeting his daughter is cured. During his time in Palestine, the Senator, as an envoy of the Emperor Tiberius, was involved in the main political and religious events of the time. It also gives us an idea of Palestine around the time of the crucifixion of Jesus as seen by a Roman Senator and his attempts to stop the inevitable condemnation.

The medium

Francisco Candido Xavier wrote, through automatic, over 400 books, which are filled with messages of love and forgiveness and aims to help spiritual development according to the teachings of Jesus. The books have sold over 25 million copies and all proceedings from the sales are donated to social works founded by Mr. Xavier seventy years ago.
In 1981-82 Mr. Xavier was nominated to the Nobel Peace Prize. The President of Brazil and all the leaders of the main religious groups were present at his funeral.
