KABULA WORKSHOP: FROM CAPOEIRA TO BATUQUE!
Hello Kabuleiros and all the Capoeira Community around UK,
Europe and USA.
I´m
happy to invite you for the III KABULA WORKSHOP: CAPOEIRA
ANGOLA TO BATUQUE that I will be leading this weekend (20th
and 21st of May).
The programme of this workshop aims to keep ongoing our project
of researching and practicing the relations between Capoeira
and the other ORAL-RYTHMIC TRADITIONS from Brazil.
So why, this time the attention goes to Mestre Humberto Balogum:
Old “Carioca” batuqueiro (drummer), Sambista,
Jongueiro, Candomblé Sacerdote and part of Kabula Rio
de Janeiro. M. Humberto is not in UK unfortunately. But, we
will show a film about Mestre Humberto that is part of some
festivals around the world right now. Like Havana and Münique
Film Festival.
You
all are welcome to our event. Bring your positive vibe and
let’s share it in KABULA!

for 2006.

/ 3:40 - Stretching, strength and warm up with KYO technique

/ 5:40 – Movement: Capoeira Angola … movement
and aesthetic of C. Angola

pm / 7:40 – Open Roda: Capoeira Community, friends and
guests are all welcome.
Sunday (21st of May):

/ 12:30 am – Movement and embodied syncopation
in the practicing of Jongo, Batuque, and Capoeira
Angola

/ 2 pm – Samba: “Batuque de Bamba”
– Afro-Brazilian Percussion workshop with Berimbau,
pandeiros and Drums.

the participants will receive the method and the lyrics we
will use)
(Please bring your own Berimbau and pandeiros in case you
have it).

pm – Lunch break (bring sandwich fruits and juices for
a quick picnic).
