II ABADA-CAPOEIRA INTERNACIONAL FESTIVAL

28, 29, 30 April & 1st May

We would like to invite you to the II ABADA-Capoeira International Festival. This will be a 4 day Capoeira festival where masters, teachers and students from Brazil and Europe will get together to discuss Capoeira and exchange the most recent techniques being developed in Brazil.

London will be hosting high quality capoeiristas, dancers and musicians in an event promoted by ABADA- Capoeira UK on the 1st of May at Guanabara (Parker Street). We will be showing a short documentary entitled “Vadiação” with the legendary Mestre Bimba, followed by a Roda with guest capoeiristas from other schools before proceeding with the gradings.

This is an unique opportunity to see the new students getting involved deeper in the Capoeira culture by participating in the initiation ritual called the Batizado. On the same afternoon, NU tempo, the experimental dance company of Everaldo Pereira will be performing Raizes , a show inspired by Afro-Brazilian culture that portrays the strength of the Orixás.

You will also get to watch a performance of the original Maculélé. This dance from Santo Amaro portrays the movements of the slaves while working in the sugar cane fields (canaviais) as well as the chants of their African cultures.
